Sam Paganini returns with new double album “Light + Shadow”
Sam Paganini has released a new record that is split into two moods to showcase the full spectrum of his sound.
Titled “Light + Shadow”, the double album features six daytime-oriented tracks to represent light, and six tracks composed for a nocturnal club setting that represent the shadow element.
Released on his own label Jam, Paganini uses this innovative format to explore a whole spectrum of different grooves, emotions and vibes.
The album opens with ‘Bianca’, a sentimental yet uplifting song dedicated to Sam’s seven months old daughter, who was a newborn when he wrote it.
The “Light” half of the record continues with melodic loops, lush ambient pads and harmonic soundscapes. Track number six, ‘Nocturama’ marks the upcoming change of gears, an exquisite exploration of a ‘cosmic jungle in the sky’ with experimental keys, whimsical melodic leads and bustling broken beats.
The second half, “Shadow”, takes you straight to the underground with deep techno rollers like ‘Starlight,’ fizzing basslines and cantering drums and hypnotic neon synth leads paired with unrelenting kick drums. Closing track ‘Heaven’ takes us to a grand finale complete with bubbling acid and trippy keys.
“Light + Shadow” is Paganini’s fourth full-length album, the culmination of 25 years at the forefront of the underground scene while simultaneously headlining major international clubs and festivals such as Berghain, Output, Cielo, and Fabric.
The Italian artist has previously released material on influential labels like Drumcode, Plus 8 and Cocoon Recordings, and usually doesn’t stray far from the Top 10 of the Beatport techno charts.
Paganini is currently on the road touring Europe until New Year’s Eve, with more dates for 2022 set to be announced.
“Light + Shadow” is available everywhere from November 12th 2021. Click through to find out more.
